2019 Syrup Season is all wrapped-up!!
Our garage went from a bottling station to a bucket-washing station overnight. We finished with a decent harvest this year, up from the previous two seasons with over half of our syrup flowing after the April snowstorm!! It saved our season! Please check-out our Summer Farmers Market schedules. Look forward to seeing you there!

The trees ran during the storm....
The trees ran during the storm, but not 'crazy' as we had anticipated, but enough for us to collect today and cook tonight (Friday). Also enough to extend our season by another week or so.

Winter Storm Warning in your area....
After the sap we collected yesterday was not crystal-clear, we might think our season is wrapping-up. But today's storm warning is a perfect way to bump an 'okay' season to a 'super' season. The trees tend to run wild with the low pressure that accompanies a storm front. So not everybody grumbles about SNOW in APRIL.

Friday night at the Shak
We’ll have the stove going tonight at the Shak, but looking at the temps for the weekend looks like tonight will be it until temps cool-off again next week. The season’s NOT over.

Hopeful for a good day...
We had some decent collecting days this week and were able to cook down what was collected the same day. Yesterday (Thursday) the trees took a break but we’re hopeful they run today, which means we’d cook at the Shak on Sat night. Stay tuned.

One more day of prep needed....
We have sap to cook, but need one more day of prep at the Shak before we can begin making syrup. Hopefully we’re ready tomorrow!

Enough sap to fill the pans for the first cook of the season
Well.....we've got all the the trees tapped and have collected just enough sap to fill the pans for our first cook of the season! The 4-wheeler and gator are ready with tanks. Still have a little work to do on the skidsteer getting a tank mounted on the front so we don't have to lift the full buckets as high as we did last year (for us shorter......maybe not as strong collectors). Might be cooking as soon as tomorrow evening!

Hardest worker in the woods........
So far this year the hardest worker in the woods goes to a machine!! We load-up the skidsteer's snow bucket with buckets, taps, and lids and it's our way of hauling our supplies out to the the woods. Usually we pull a trailer behind a 4-wheeler, but this year there's just too much snow. We've got about 3/4 of our trees tapped and hope to finish tomorrow. Then our focus will be on getting the Sugar Shak ready.

Spring Showers Bring .......
We're hoping these Spring Showers bring 'Melting Powers!' The forecast would lead us to believe that the trees may start running next week, but the snow is VERY deep in the woods! Up the to deers' tails shall we say? That makes for pretty tough tapping conditions for we humans. Stay tuned.
