The trees were definitely happy with yesterday's rain/lightening/thunder. It was an obvious sign of Spring, and we collected 800 gallons of sap today. The Sugar Shak is ready-to-go!

The MAPLE TREES are awake!
Who didn't enjoy the great weather this weekend?! The Maple Trees have awakened from their slumber and we're ready for whatever they send our way. We collected 600 gallons of sap yesterday and had our first boil of the season last night. After we get past these next two unseasonably warm days/nights, the next two weeks look perfect for the mapling season!
A few photos from our preparations this week.

Happy Spring! Happy Sunday!
A friend of mine shared this photo of her delicious 'prepared at home' breakfast, which included our yummy Barthel's River Road Gold maple syrup. Hope many of you are doing the same! We're enjoying a decent maple season, and it appears we have at least a week to go! Take care! Oh! And it's 'Maple Sausage' from Dehmers Meats in St. Michael!

Trees switched from 'OFF' to 'HI' overnight
The trees skipped LO and MED and went right to HI on our first day of collecting. It was a two-trip day collecting 1200+ gallons! Predicting about the same today. And yes, there's steam coming from the roof of the Sugar Shak! Enjoy your SUNday!

Ready or not....Here it comes (Maple Season)!
We're feeling a little behind this year! But we're committed! Got about 2/3 of the trees tapped.....but if they start running, we're NOT ready to collect/cook sap. Let's hope Mother Nature is kind this week. Stay tuned!!
